What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal Fillers are made up of the same moisturising component as your skin, so its the natural choice for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is our own natural skin moisturiser and an important substance that makes up the healthy and youthful appearance of the skin.
Unfortunately as we age HA diminishes over time. The good news is the signs of ageing can be diminished by replacing lost hyaluronic acid to plump up the tissue in the skin.
Dr. Small is trained in the use of cannulae, for the placement of Dermal Fillers. Cannulae are a minimally invasive approach to place Dermal Fillers. A CANNULA is basically a needle with a blunt end, the advantages being, reduced trauma, less bruising, less swelling and improved patient comfort.
Dr. Small uses cannula for 90% of Dermal Filler placement. Such is the minimal downtime associated with cannula, patients are able to go about their daily life without any delay.
As we age, our skin inevitably loses its youthful appearance as the production of natural dermal volumisers and moisturisers such as hyaluronic acid (HA) diminish, leaving lines and wrinkles where our skin once was youthful, even and radiant. Today, the signs and symptoms of the natural ageing process can be reduced by replacing lost hyaluronic acid.

Stay in shape
A youthful face has a clear shape and defined contours. Shadowing and highlighting enhance and flatter features but, as we get older, accentuating the natural angles of our face with makeup is not enough. Collagen and elastin keep our skin supple and youthful but these support structures, as well as underlying bone, diminish as we age.
Skin is no longer able to ‘bounce back’ so easily: instead, it starts to sag and loses definition – especially in the lower face.
Improved from within
Radiesse® is a dermal filler that restores skin on two levels. It achieves both immediate enhancement and sustained aesthetic improvement of facial shape and contours Radiesse® stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which are important components of our skin (and which start to become depleted over time). These building-blocks are improved in the months after your Radiesse® treatment, to allow you to benefit from sustained improvement.
